The first general Roosevelt Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) meeting was held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Roosevelt Middle School. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the meeting. The goal was to introduce the PTSA to our new families, introduce the Executive Board, share upcoming programs and event and gather feedback. It was a pleasure meeting everyone and discussing how we can work together to strengthen our schools and community thereby achieve success for all.
Here's what we discussed:
The mission of PTA is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering our families to advocate for all students. Unlike most PTA's, Roosevelt has a district-wide PTSA. We work in harmony with all five schools to provide an extra level of support for nearly 4,000 pre-k to 12 grade students. The organization was formed in 2014 to give parents a voice, an opportunity to get involved and so that we can all be accountable as stakeholders for the success of our students.
Our goals for this year include, but are not limited to:
- Empower and support parents and students
- Increase the number of high school scholarships we provide
- Keep parents informed
This year, we added new programs and events to our calendar. On Saturday, November 7th and Wednesday, December 5, parents with teenagers are invited to join us for our two communication and empowerment workshops. For more upcoming events, please check our events calendar or the district calendar. Please note that events and locations are subject to change.
We hope to see many of our students participating in the 50th Anniversary of the National PTA Reflections Arts. Program.
We need more parents to get involved. We need help during our monthly parent engagement meetings at each school and during district-wide events. Please email us at rooseveltufsdptsa2@gmail.com for more information or visit our website.
